Salesforce Spring ’25 Release: Your Guide to Key Updates and Release Strategy Essentials

The Salesforce Spring ’25 release brings platform changes that are important for your organization to consider. Click to watch the video below, in which our Salesforce experts walk through critical updates, exciting new features, and best practices for transitioning from outdated automation tools. Key updates and recommendations are outlined below.

The End of Workflow Rules and Process Builder

One of the biggest upcoming changes in Salesforce Spring ’25 Release is the official discontinuation of support for Workflow Rules and Process Builder by the end of the year. Organizations relying on these automation tools need to migrate to Flow, which will now serve as the primary automation tool in Salesforce.

To ease this transition, Salesforce provides a conversion tool to assist its users in migrating to Flow. Alternatively, users may choose to design and build flows manually.

This shift also presents an opportunity for businesses to optimize their current automations by reviewing existing workflows to determine if they are still necessary or can be improved.

For more information, read this comprehensive Guide to Transitioning from Salesforce Workflow Rules and Process Builder Before End of Support.

Advancements in Salesforce Flow

As Salesforce continues its shift toward Flow as the primary automation tool, several enhancements are making it more powerful and user-friendly, including:

  • Automation Hub: Salesforce is encouraging users to adopt the Automation Hub as the go-to place for managing flows. The “New Flow” button now directs users to the Automation Hub, providing list views and better flow management tools.
  • Improved Flow Creation UI: A new, more informative landing page helps users—especially those migrating from Workflow Rules and Process Builder—understand different flow types and select the right one.
  • Get Records Enhancement: Users can now limit the number of records retrieved, making queries more efficient and preventing loops from exceeding limits.
  • Send Email with Attachments: The “Send Email” action now supports attachments using content IDs, making it easier to include documents directly in automated communications.
  • Screen Flow Stage Indicators: A new stage path component visually guides users through a flow, similar to Opportunity Stage Paths, improving navigation and user experience.
  • Version Management Enhancements: Users can now switch between different flow versions directly within Flow Builder without needing to leave the editor.
  • Expanded Keyboard Shortcuts: Flow now supports undo (Ctrl+Z), redo (Ctrl+Y), and additional shortcuts, improving efficiency when building and modifying flows.

These updates and others covered in our demo video collectively enhance Flow’s usability, making it more intuitive, powerful, and aligned with Salesforce’s push toward automation.

Deprecation of Older API Versions

Another crucial update coming soon is the deprecation of older Salesforce API versions: specifically, API 30 and below of Salesforce REST, BULK, or SOAP APIs for system integration.

As these outdated versions are phased out, organizations still using them will begin to experience connection failures and server errors. Since Salesforce has already stopped providing support for these versions, users who encounter issues will be left without assistance unless they upgrade to current versions. Reports and logs can be reviewed to assess whether your org will be impacted.

Enhancements to User Experience

The Salesforce Spring ’25 Release also brings several new functional enhancements designed to improve user experience.  These feature enhancements include:

  • Multi-Column Sorting in List Views – Users can now customize their list views by sorting multiple columns. Unlike filters, which apply universally, column sorting is user-specific.
  • User Management: List View Experience – Admins can now manage roles and permissions more easily with an updated UI for sorting and viewing.  Inline editing is also now supported for roles.
  • User Management: Password Confirmation – Admins can enable a new confirmation page to be displayed when a user clicks the password reset link.  This resolves issues with orgs that enforce single-use password reset links but have email scanning services that expire the link automatically.
