As a Client Account Manager, I have focused heavily over the last few years on driving client attendance to Local NetSuite User groups. The NetSuite User Groups provide users opportunities to gain NetSuite knowledge outside their every day jobs. Take a look at the following reasons why you should attend your local NetSuite User Group.
Networking Opportunities
NetSuite User Groups give you an opportunity to develop a network of NetSuite users. You will often find people in the same industry/field as you — Take the time to connect with at least 5-7 different users and exchange contact information. Discussing current/future projects could lead you to solving problems you didn’t know existed.
Learning
Every time you attend a User Group you should have the goal of learning at least one new thing. Often there will be presentations on business problems/solutions; the likelihood of someone else having the same business problem is high. Speakers at the User Groups are often seen as the experts in their field so do not be afraid to ask questions. If they are at the User Group, they are willing to share their experiences!
SuiteApps
Without sponsors, most user groups would not exist. Sponsors usually consist of Third Party SuiteApps or Solution Provider Partners. SuiteApps are applications that extend NetSuite for industry/business needs. Most SuiteApps run inside NetSuite and are hosted in the same database as your NetSuite data. Other SuiteApps can be integrated with NetSuite. Most user groups will have 3-5 SuiteApp sponsors who will be in attendance to promote their product. Always make sure you stop by their booths or listen to their presentations, since they could be solving a business issue you didn’t even know you had.
Solution Provider Partners
If you are struggling as the NetSuite Admin and do not have a NetSuite partner, User groups are the perfect way to meet a new Solution Provider Partner. Solution Provider Partners or VARs (Value Added Resellers) often attend the user groups to meet new clients. They will be able to assist you with NetSuite support, project needs, etc.
As you can see there are many benefits to attending a Local NetSuite User Group. If you have any questions on finding your local user group, please contact us for more information.
