This year’s Dreamforce, hosted in San Francisco from September 17-19, brought together over 45,000 Salesforce Trailblazers from across the globe, leaving no doubt that we are stepping into a new frontier for AI-powered business solutions.
Here are the key announcements that Sikich captured at Dreamforce 2024.
Agentforce: The Star of Dreamforce
At the heart of Dreamforce 2024 was the introduction of Agentforce, a suite of autonomous AI Agents designed to revolutionize workflows across industries in Salesforce. These agents, customizable for specific tasks, can handle everything from customer service and marketing to sales and field operations. Salesforce aims to make these agents integral to daily business operations, enabling them to autonomously perform tasks like answering inquires, managing orders, and even personalizing customer experiences based on real-time data.
With Agent Builder, we are now able to design and deploy customized Agents without the need for coding. Each Agent is structured around specific topics, which include natural language instructions. Salesforce recommends adhering to best practices by limiting Agents to a maximum of 10 actions per topic. These predefined actions can encompass a combination of flows, MuleSoft integrations, and Apex processes.
Atlas: The AI Brain Behind Agentforce
Atlas takes AI to the next level. Unlike earlier AI tools, Atlas goes beyond just assisting its users—it autonomously performs actions based on contextual business data. This means businesses can rely on Atlas to anticipate needs, manage complex scenarios, and continuously improve actions, making it a game-changer for AI-driven decision-making. Its ability to learn and refine strategies on the fly ensures that businesses can scale operations efficiently while maintaining accuracy and personalization.
Data Cloud Enhancements
Salesforce continues to enhance Data Cloud, solidifying its role as the central hub for AI-driven insights. Key announcements at Dreamforce highlighted expanded support for unstructured data, including PDFs, the introduction of sandboxes for Data Cloud, and the availability of Shield Platform encryption within Data Cloud. To manage encryption keys, users must be assigned the “Manage Encryption Keys” permission set.
Empowering AI-Driven Sales Teams
Dreamforce 2024 also introduced a new enhancement, the New Account Plan within Sales Cloud. This will take strategic account management to the next level by integrating AI-driven insights directly into the planning process. This feature enables teams to better identify growth opportunities, track key milestones, and manage relationships more effectively.
The New Account Plan offers a comprehensive view of an account’s history, current engagement, and future potential. Powered by Einstein AI, it utilizes predictive analytics to help sales reps prioritize high-value accounts and anticipate client needs.
Additionally, Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) by Salesforce Spiff is now an add-on feature. This enables users to build out commission plans, complex calculations, and rules for commissions right into Sales Cloud, giving sales teams real-time commission feedback as they drive an opportunity toward closure.
Salesforce: Well-Architected
The Salesforce Well-Architected framework is a set of principles designed to help businesses build more scalable, secure, and efficient AI and CRM solutions. It provides a structured approach to developing AI-powered applications, ensuring that they are robust and flexible enough to evolve as business needs grow.
The Well-Architected framework promotes best practices and emphasizes three core pillars: Trusted, Easy, Adaptable. These principles guide organizations in assessing their existing architecture and provide a roadmap for improving their Salesforce system to handle increased workloads, particularly as AI becomes more embedded in daily operations.
